Repeats and Borders The border shown on the cover is my least favorite. The remainder of the borders are much simpler and more elegant. They are actually "iron on" line drawings and Ann has used the book for years for pillow cases, dish towels, etc. but they, also, are great for china painting when a border is desired for painting, pen work or enameling. Sargent Portrait Drawings This wonderful book shows charcoal and pencil portraits by John Singer Sargent. It should be a must for those interested in drawing or painting portraits. When portraits are done in charcoal or pencil it is easier to see how he handled the shadows that made his portraits world renowned. Sargent devoted most of the last 15 years of his life doing charcoal and pencil portraits instead of the time consuming portraits done in oils. The book is both instructional and inspirational.
